Pastor Faaolataga “Tango” Vao

Unity REK Church Pukekohe 

Pastor Faaolataga “Tango” Vao serves as the Senior Pastor of Unity REK Church Pukekohe, ministering in a bi‑vocational capacity as both a church pastor and a Hospital Chaplain. Now in his fourth year of ministry within the Assemblies of God New Zealand Movement, he is known for his humility, authenticity, and deep desire to see lives transformed by the love of God.

Tango has been married to his wife, Tofia, since 2012, and together they raise their two children, who remain a central source of joy and motivation in his life.

He graduated from Alphacrucis College with a Diploma in Theological Studies (Level 5) and is currently completing a Diploma in Chaplaincy (Level 5). His chaplaincy work reflects a God‑opened pathway shaped by resilience, obedience, faith, and strong family support.

Before entering ministry, Tango worked across various industries, giving him a grounded understanding of everyday people and the challenges they face. This diverse background has shaped him into a pastor who listens deeply, encourages steadily, and walks with people through life’s ups and downs with compassion and wisdom.

Outside of ministry, he enjoys time with his family, sport, music, and getting to the gym when he can.

Pastor Tango leads Unity REK Church with a heart to see people encounter God, grow in faith, and live transformed lives.
